El Cotillo and its surroundings

In the north of the island, the little town of El Cotillo has stayed away from mass tourism and conserves partially intact its natural beauty. The Fuerteventura island was declared a Biosphere Reserve in 2009 by UNESCO for its biological patrimony and in June 2010 the La Concha beach, the biggest in Los Lagos, was awarded with the Blue Flag eco-label for its environmental value. Near El Cotillo there are different beaches and landscapes to discover like Playa del Aguila beach, Playa de la Mujer beach or the Dunas and Isla de Cobos natural parks.

Leisure and Sports

The north of the island offers an ample variety of countryside and seaside trips. The climate of Fuerteventura allows year round hiking, biking or horseback riding outings to discover volcanic landscapes or dream-like beaches. For water-sports enthusiasts El Cotillo offers the possibility to Surf, Windsurf, Kite-surf or Scuba-dive. We recommend a visit to the Torre del Tostón, the Tourism Information Office of El Cotillo and the Casa de los Coroneles de La Oliva. The network of island Museums of the Cabildo completes the cultural offer of the island.
